Grammar : Prepositions

Prepositions are used to show position and direction.

1. Prepositions of place and position show where a person or thing is.

Examples: 

•  The book is on the table

•  The boy is under the bed.

•  The toys are in the box.

•  The dog is at the gate.

•  The fan is above the cupboard .

2. Prepositions of direction show the direction from a fixed point. 


Examples :

• A  cat  fell  into  the   well.

• The  horse  jumped  over  the  fence.

• Adrian  is  going  to  school.

• Johan  is  walking  up  the stairs.
