Grammar : Prepositions
Prepositions are used to show position and direction.
1. Prepositions of place and position show where a person or thing is.
Examples:
- The book is on the table
- The boy is under the bed.
- The toys are in the box.
- The dog is at the gate.
- The fan is above the cupboard .
2. Prepositions of direction show the direction from a fixed point.
Examples :
- A cat fell into the well.
- The horse jumped over the fence.
- Adrian is going to school.
- Johan is walking up the stairs.

Grammar : Nouns
Nouns are the names of people, places, animals and things
Nouns can grouped as Common Nouns and Proper Nouns.
Examples :
Nouns can grouped as Common Nouns and Proper Nouns.
Examples :
• Ali is singing.
• The dog is mad.
• I live in Kuala Lumpur.
• The pen is broken.
In the above sentences, the word “Ali” is the name of the person, “dog” is the name of an animal, “Kuala Lumpur” is the name of a place and “pen” is the name of a thing.
Examples :
• Karim is idle.
• Ida is clever.
• Where is Bryan?
• The rose is red.
• The book is on the desk.
• The camel is found in Africa.
• Ants are always busy.
• Rabbits have short tails.
• Children should obey their parents.
In the above sentences, each word in bold is the name of something
(of a person, animal, place or thing).
